Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

Actually either way BK's idealism is wrong. This is the claim I was looking for, if we can find one more "materialist" siding with Jim we have a small but sufficient team. And then, since this is a mainly idealistic forum, we find two more idealists minimum also and then we are off to the...

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

Eugene and Martin, If entanglement is measurement, this seems to lead to some interesting conclusions. If two electrons are entangled, then measurement must have occurred between them. If measurement requires a conscious observer, then the electrons must be conscious. Panpsychism. If measurement doe...

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

Martin, The paper accompanying the video has its own mixed messages: It turns out that by thinking of measurement and entanglement as related phenomena we can shed quite a bit of light (so to speak) on the nature of physical reality "Related" and "same" are not the same. The stat...

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

So here are a few articles that have to do with entanglement etc, I thought I post these here and see what happens, since we also have some members here who think idealism is bull etc. https://www.bernardokastrup.com/search?q=entanglement And https://www.bernardokastrup.com/search?q=quantum+mechani...

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

As a side note, it might we worth to remember that Entanglement and Observation is the same thing in QM. It is an identity. This is a fact that even some Physicists forget sometimes. Martin, I'm not an expert but I think this is wrong. My understanding is along this line. If two (or more) particles...

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

Something interesting about any of the QM arguments is that QM is a theory of physics that involves measurement. Measurement is at the core of it. So it is probably useful for explaining the quantities of the world but not the qualities. If the measurements are real, then there is something outside...

Re: Survival

Please read Mishlove's essay and get back to me whether you think ALL the cases reported there qualify as "strange sensations". If not, your explanation has no value in this context. Mishlove's essay is terrible from what I can see by glancing at it. Mostly anecdotal and/or based on accou...

Re: Survival

What a toxic place this has become almost an anti-BK-forum. I will be a passive reader from now on for the most part. Well, I would suggest more 'meta' kastrup, as the forum name implies, rather than anti-kastrup—although some occasional facile detractors may be in that category. My own critique, i...

Re: Survival

Indeed, science, based on subjective experience, once studied a pattern of the sun, along with the firmament at large, 'rising' and 'setting' beyond the horizon, and came up with a theory of geocentrism, plausible enough at the time. Until science deduced through reason that the earth was spinning ...
