Re: The Central Topic

My interpretation of the central topic was: "Let's start with observing our thinking and see what we can say" We came to the point where we saw that thinking (using small 't' here) isn't fully free. It's operating in something what could be described as a funnel, and the nature/state of t...

Re: The Central Topic

Those are different aspects of consciousness. Experiencing can be known, or it may not be known by thinking. The fact that experiencing, thinking, feeling, perceiving and willing are inseparable does not mean that they are equally existential or fundamental so to speak. These are different aspects ...

Re: The Central Topic

IMO this as a confusion arising out of multiple meanings assigned to the word ‘know’. What exactly do we mean by a statement such as ‘consciousness is all there is?’ Is this assertion based on us ‘ knowing ’ or ‘ experiencing ’ consciousness? Is experiencing consciousness same as knowing it? This i...

Re: The Central Topic

You assume that knowing consciousness can exist only above the surface and imagine through rocks, dust and reflections the true archipelago of which the island is part. What the Central Topic speaks about is that what is below the surface (behind the eye of thinking) can also be known consciously ....

Re: The Central Topic

Please try to step back and see what is really given in the riddle of existence. You might say that the given is the objective world but that would be incorrect. The given is the world of direct experience - colors, sounds, feelings, thoughts, etc. I am not saying the given is the objective world. ...

Re: The Central Topic

Cleric, Is there anything which can be communicated unambiguously? Yes. For example, 13x17, or any piece of scientific knowledge. Why such objectivity is possible is an interesting question. I will not speculate about it at this point. With this in mind, there's no need to arbitrarily hard-split the...

Re: The Central Topic

Cleric, The exact way we experience these thoughts vary from person to person. Some do the math using verbal words, others imagine visually what they would otherwise write on paper and so on. In any case, our thoughts embodying the mathematical concepts, are the object of thinking. As you say, the e...

Re: The Central Topic

Everything that I've tried to write about, practically has this single goal in mind. To bring to attention the extreme one-sidedness of the modern intellectual consciousness. Cleric, I can understand the problem you address and the urgency of doing so. But I can’t see how metaphorical descriptions ...

Re: Survival value of Consciousness

If MAL differentiated under an impulse to experience without knowing (somehow), it would be returning to the exact same state it began from, which makes little sense, either as an inner telos or in light of our own immanent experience of life, in which all previous states integrate within the prese...

Re: Survival value of Consciousness

Then one day I realized that all of this fussing was greatly diminishing my ability to savor and experience the here and now. I feel many people may be making that same mistake. Their heads are so wrapped up in characterizing the uncharacterizable as if it was something outside themselves they were...
