Re: Bernado's Mathematical Universe

It's a confusion to call coherence theory of truth and process ontology a "model", as the term refers to a static structure. Of course we start from being-in-the-world, where else? Assuming external perspective to world is a no-go. It's a model in as much as you are attempting to model it...

Re: Does the Anthropic Principle Explain Anything?

When did I say Langan believes his words are the ontological reality? I do believe there are people who think abstractions of particles, fields, or strings are the ontological reality, those people we call "materialists". Not the actual words "fields" or "strings", but...

Re: Does the Anthropic Principle Explain Anything?

I appreciate that and I completely agree with you. I started at A and now maybe I am at B, so I have absolutely no expectations for where anyone should start or how they should start. There are plenty of other ways, apart from those discussed in my essays, to approach the noumenal relations which c...

Re: Does the Anthropic Principle Explain Anything?

Those are my conclusions, and I have a lot of different reasons for reaching them, many of which are scattered throughout my essays. But, for now, I just want us to be on the same page of what my critique is. The abstract framework is not harmful because it's hard for me or most other people to und...

Re: Bernado's Mathematical Universe

Is it that your universe is made up of only "perspectival multinatures"? How would you define these? Not mine . Perspectival multinaturalism is an animistic conceptualization by Viveiros de Castro, and can be considered coherent with pluralism of Relational Quantum Mechanich by Rovelli an...

Re: Bernado's Mathematical Universe

Evolution has a different aim than goodness, power, god, or randomness. Instead, it is symmetry in everything. This forms the beating heart of the universal ‘process’: the active, teleological quest for symmetry. On the contrary. :) I start from symmetry - simply, palindromic strings of formal lang...

Re: Bernado's Mathematical Universe

I don't assume LNC as an axiom. Process ontology has complex and dynamic relation with contradition. Process ontology does not avoid relativism. Coherence with empirical facts of computational irreducibility and hence non-determinism does not provide error-free foundation. Which is a good thing, as...

Re: Does the Anthropic Principle Explain Anything?

Is your principle at all similar to Leibniz's Principle of Sufficient Reason (PSR)? There would, by it's own criteria, need to be a sufficient reason why this principle exists in nature. But in this way it is circular. Its perhaps important to note that facts cannot explain themselves, but principle...

Re: Bernado's Mathematical Universe

Thanks, I didn't follow the progression of this thread but now it's obvious that Kampis is addressing a different audience. I think what you are saying is important, but its not either/or, but both/and. There needs to be coherence between what is fundamental and what is emergent. Preferable the for...

Re: Bernado's Mathematical Universe

I was curious to find out if Bernado addresses the "unreasonable effectiveness of mathematics" in any of his discussions or writings. How does a mathematical universe spring from a non-mathematical consciousness? If consciousness is mathematical, shouldn't that be a central part of the pr...
