Re: The Center of the Central Topic (Part 1)

So the blind spot is there in both cases. Along the X axis we're thinking about million things but the things themselves don't in the least reflect to us the fact that we're actually willing that thinking. Similarly, along the Y axis we will our spiritual activity such that we step out of the think...

Re: A separate topic...

Yes, but I am just saying that when a mystic says he 'experiences formlessness' that formlessness may be relative. Yes, good point Also -- getting picky here -- there is no formless aspect of a form. There is a formless aspect of an ideational act, and a form aspect of an ideational act (though I n...

Re: A separate topic...

Eugene, I’m not sure if it was you who said in another thread that since one person remember an experience of emptiness, then his/her memory was present while having that experience. Could it be that this memory-form is one of those invisible ink-forms Scott is referring to? Yes, that's what I was ...

Re: A separate topic...

My understanding was that the "formlessness" is not a "mystical" state of the absence of forms, but formless/existential aspects of every form. So, formlessness is present regardless whether any forms are present or not. Every form has these following formless aspects: beingness ...

Re: Cleric and Eugene on "Thinking" and The Central Topic

I think that was what Scott Roberts was doing, integrating BK idealism, non-dualism and Steinerian Science in one philosophy. I don’t know if he is still working in that regard. Sadly he doesn’t write in this forum as much as he did before. Yes, I agree, he is spot on with his fromless-form mumorph...

Re: Cleric and Eugene on "Thinking" and The Central Topic

From what I see, a lot of the so-called differences are nothing more than terminological issues. I too, respond badly to the word "thinking" or "Thinking", but that's because I see thinking as only intellectual and therefore only a part of my awareness. Others are using the word...

Re: Jaimungal meets Rovelli

Indeed. The Theravadans were weary of the claiming of any self whatsoever - even a unitary one. The focus is on enlightenment rather than any ontological claim. Rovelli seems very agnostic about ontology so it suits his worldview, and allows space for a subtle materialism. Well, the relational inte...

Re: Jaimungal meets Rovelli

At around 1:40m he talks about reality being made up of events or moments. Later he writes off a consciousness based ontology - using the buddhist idea of ephemeral moments rather than a unitary subjectivity. Well, that's a Theravadian idea (interpretation). In Mahayana the unitary subjectivity (Bu...

Re: Cleric and Eugene on "Thinking" and The Central Topic

The above is what the dogmatic Christian theist of the modern age, who is undeniably a metaphysical dualist, would write about his absolutely transcendent God. The content of the above would remain exactly the same and one abstract concept of "Consciousness" would be replaced for another ...

Re: Cleric and Eugene on "Thinking" and The Central Topic

What I don't see is that stepping outside the movie, and the experiences that it leads to, is passive. ... I also don't see how any spiritual activity of any kind can happen without the process of being aware of what is happening in my thinking or Thinking. To be aware is precisely this self-rememb...
