Re: Essay: Retracing Spiritual Activity (Part V)
Thanks, Ashvin, for this and the previous additions. I guess there's not much more you can do to make it even clearer, now it's up to me to keep working with these ideas. About the brain lobes mentioned in the essay, I actually had a 'critical' comment that I finally didn't include in my post, sinc...

Re: Essay: Retracing Spiritual Activity (Part V)
I wanted to add, on this image of 'convolutions', we could make a comparison with the major 'lobes' of the brain with their convolutions, which I briefly referenced in the essay. The functions of these may not be exact correspondences with the 'rungs' or aeons, but nevertheless, I think it gives a ...

Re: Essay: Retracing Spiritual Activity (Part V)
Ashvin, regarding the convolutions: I see Cleric has written precisely about that, and maybe I'll be able to better understand them once I reflect on those ideas.

Re: Essay: Retracing Spiritual Activity (Part V)
A great project is taking shape through the parts of this series, Ashvin. Thanks for another insightful part! This time, it took me some more effort to get into the ideal flow. First, I had to proceed carefully through the paragraph on the “relative perspectives” and then I got clearly stuck in the ...

Re: Donald Hoffman's search for a mathematical theory of consciousness
BTW, Roger Penrose is one of the most intuitive thinkers of those who are knee-deep in the abstract intellect. Even though he seeks the answers in mathematical thinking, it's interesting to see how in this way he tries to express ideas that stem from deeper intuition (and he is to some extent aware...

Perhaps this image can help consolidate...

Re: On the Gradient of Thinking
The above gets to the heart of my beginning the thread on definitions and uses of specific terms . . . *** Nothing is more dangerous than allowing yourself always to be carried by language, meaning that you say: “ and here is how you express this thing, here is how you express that one ” insofar as...

Great! Then I imagine the next time we hear from you, after you have digested the material on this forum at your own pace, it won't be another video link to nondual awakening, which we have all agreed traps us at the threshold of true Self-lucidity, or commiseration about the past history of the fo...

Re: Essay: Retracing Spiritual Activity (Part IV)
In our normal life, our thinking is something like a commentator of the happenings around us and the happenings inside, like our feelings and other qualitative states of existence we go trough. In concentration it is different. There we try to consciously think our thoughts, our guide our own activ...
