A personal beef.

This is intended as my personal confession and is not directed toward anyone else (especially NOT our stellar forum moderator Shu). I'm frustrated that the board index segregates/separates "General Discussions" and "Metaphysically Relevant Art Forms." Why might a liberating Ideal...

Re: The power of story.

This is a repost from the music thread. I'd love to read your personal take on the power of story in your own life. Are there stories of special importance or significance to you? Yes, Chasidic masters tend to use stories which echo Kabbalistic metaphors, that bypass the conscious mind to penetrate...

Re: Res Ipsa Loquitur: Kant vs. Goethe (and the World)

Justin, Thank you for the detailed response. Just to be clear, although the essay sets up as Kant v. Goethe and mentions other thinkers, the core spirit of Goethe's approach is to rely on one's own knowing capacity when confronting the phenomena and not other people's thought-systems. It is about b...

Re: Thanksgiving and Metacognition

I especially like this from Steiner. To me it seems quite like how an intuition often feels: And just as the eyes and ears of the physical body are built by natural forces out of living matter, so will the organs of clairvoyance build themselves out of the feelings and thoughts thus evoked. A quite ...

Re: Thanksgiving and Metacognition

To begin with, the attention of the soul is directed to certain events in the world that surrounds us. Such events are, on the one hand, life that is budding, growing, and flourishing, and on the other hand, all phenomena connected with fading, decaying, and withering. The student can observe these...
