Re: Susan Blackmore: Scientific Evidence and the Near-Death Experience

She seems to be a good and honest scientist and a bad philospher (which she isn't, so really not something to hold against her). She is clearly an expert of the phenomena of consciousness, but she fails to address the fundamental questions (WHAT IS QUALIA?).

Re: John Vervaeke: The Book That Changed My Life

What's the book, for those of us who just want to know? :D For those who are so extremely busy, or just indifferent, to checkout the description on youtube, the book is What is Ancient Philosophy? by Pierre Hadot. Although, more precisely, it's an investigation into the roots of Western philosophy,...

Re: The possibility of "magic" and universal transcendence

Well, to be completely honest it was a bit dry/analytical for my taste, but I appreciated the general concepts. Bear in mind I'm not naturally a huge analytical philosophy buff, I lean more towards narrative prose, so the style of someone like Schopenhauer or BK can better convey concepts for me. Bu...

Re: Is the hard problem just ignored by Analytic idealism? Too many questions...

Is the universe in consciousness and not conscious, or is the cosmic mind the universe itself, or what can we say about the cosmos as a whole and it's relationship to consciousness? I know BK has compared, with some proof, the universe structure to neural connections, but how is that even relevant ...

Re: The possibility of "magic" and universal transcendence

A better question to ask may be, is there any point thinking about these things before we have taken much more basic steps towards our spiritual freedom? I think, in some ways, even focusing on these things at first is an attempt to circumvent the structure of Reality, and thereby will not lead to ...

The possibility of "magic" and universal transcendence

I've recently finished Decoding Schopenhauer's Metaphysics, alongside which I was reading a number of traditionalist-occultist literature. Two things came to my mind which I'd be happy to hear your thoughts on. Both of these take as their basis the assumptions made in BK's philosophy. 1. Would it be...

Re: Yet Another Stupid Question in Metaphysics

In multi-verse theory, there MUST be infinite numbers of universes in which utterly improbable things always happen, such as in the comic strip. - - Yep, I sometimes thought about that there must be universes where people think that D&D magic is real, because every time someone made a give magi...

Re: May existence be a kind of "maturation" process for MAL?

And while the spirit of MAL increases in ratio, the instinct automatically has to decrease. It is this observation, that Thomas Campbell (an ideal physicist) in his BIG Theory of Everything equates to "entropy". A very interesting reinterpretation of TC's Big Toe. However, his never-endin...

Re: Conjecture: A dissociative process can not understand universal consciousness

Access doesn't imply full merger. A psychedelic trip or deep meditation may dissolve your dissociative boundary to an extent that is very impressive to your normal limited consciousness, but that doesn't mean it's actually the full experience. But it's still access. Of course, access to the full uni...
