Re: Are there any SIMPLE books refuting what Bernardo calls "The materialism of qualities"?

Jim, perception can mean more than apprehension by the senses - it can also mean apprehension by the mind (understanding). Some dictionaries extend the definition.

Re: Cleric's Responses to Mystical Metaphysics (or How to Make a Logical Argument)

Sure, you can do it if you feel a motivation, there is nothing wrong with that. But I wouldn't. I rather feel a motivation to grow and connect with the Divine on other more subtle layers where its Wisdom, Beauty, Mystery and Love reside, and I'm not so much interested in the astral structures and b...

Re: A layman's question pertaining to ethics

Can you elaborate on how our moral conduct could impinge and influence MAL? To what end? And why would this be the reason for our existence? The idea is (in analytic idealism) that we separate from Mind at Large and evolve as dissociated beings. We learn to realise as we interact with others and ou...

Re: A layman's question pertaining to ethics

Re: Knowledge

So, knowledge is a segment on a spectrum: I like this idea. As you indicate, the great thing about it is that language can express the subjective expectations - so we could also have such as, "I doubt the cat is in the box" , "I expect the cat is in the box", "I presume the...

Re: Cleric's Responses to Mystical Metaphysics (or How to Make a Logical Argument)

I have remembered something! I said Dana Lomas was really Adam Sloan. That's an anagram. Does humour count as thinking? Is it a spiritual activity? I think I need Steiner's take on this.

I'm astonished by all this bile! I've obviously upset you. I'm sorry for that. Meanwhile, I eagerly await Dana's contribution to my character assassination...

Re: Cleric's Responses to Mystical Metaphysics (or How to Make a Logical Argument)

First, I highly doubt you had any meaningful discussions with Ben when he was lazily accusing you of being someone else and coordinating to promote some hidden agenda. :) if you can show me that meaningful thread on the old forum I am open to being corrected. I have no recollection of this! Yes, Da...

Re: Cleric's Responses to Mystical Metaphysics (or How to Make a Logical Argument)

Then, there is what appears to be the majority - Eugene, Ben... (that's enough for now, again I am making a broad point). These people look upon the forum as they look upon a cow... it is a place to express endlessly speculative opinions, garner attention for one's speculative opinions, get some pe...
