Re: Nietzsche and Christianity - Metaphysical Idealist Critique

I don't follow your logic here. Idealism is claiming, " what exists is only what we directly experience - consciousness ". What you are calling "Platonism" claims, " the consciousness which pervades the world is always tied to living beings, just as we always experience &qu...

Re: Nietzsche and Christianity - Metaphysical Idealist Critique

I also value the experience of the absence of thoughts but if we take it as epistemological basis we arrive at an incomplete system. If I empty my room of all furniture, the empty room doesn't explain what's my place in the picture - the activity that fills and empties the room. That's what I noted...

Re: Nietzsche and Christianity - Metaphysical Idealist Critique

The "Platonism" is not being added on to idealism as another assumption, they both naturally flow from the given experience of our existence. They are both assumptions/inferences only. Bare idealism is the most simple and parsimonious, I agree with that, and that's why I'm with it. Platon...

I have not either. But what does it have to do with Platonism again?

Re: Nietzsche and Christianity - Metaphysical Idealist Critique

Well Cleric has been building that model for us in many different ways from many different angles, which of course we must experience for ourselves rather than take on faith. But my point is that what he is trying to describe for us naturally flows from what we experience in even our normal 'lower'...

Re: Nietzsche and Christianity - Metaphysical Idealist Critique

Cleric, I appreciate your long post on the subject. I agree that the ideas by themselves are not the same as their "representations"/instances in our thoughts, providing that there are such things as pure ideas "without" thoughts that carry them. Basically, you presented a Platio...

Re: Views on dual-aspect monism?

Correct me if I'm wrong but honestly I see dual-aspect monism as an idea that either collapses into idealism or property dualism. I don't think the two idea are necessesarily antithesis of each other. To me there's a pretty good argument to be made that Jung saw the merits of both idealism and dual...

Re: Nietzsche and Christianity - Metaphysical Idealist Critique

To experience absence of thoughts and flow with some nebulous totality is not that much. But when we experience that the actual structure of the Cosmos is one and the same with our own 'geometry' of consciousness, the 'geometry' of the world of ideas, then our whole existence receives totally new m...

Re: Nietzsche and Christianity - Metaphysical Idealist Critique

Yes the argument is that thinking is a fundamental ontic aspect of consciousness, which fits with panentheistic conception of God(s). The response to meditation argument is that the fundamental thinking is still present even if we convince ourselves it is not through meditative process - it never d...

Re: Nietzsche and Christianity - Metaphysical Idealist Critique

The "always" can be questioned. U.G. Krishnamurti describing his transformation and and experiencing hints towards lack of unity of his sensual experiencing. I can't speak from his experience, but the suggestion seem to be that sensual "elements" can function more independently,...
