Re: Spiritual Aesthetics: The Rebirth of Poetry (Part I)

Self-referentiality is the art. Have you read 'Gödel, Escher, Bach'? PS: Loved also what Keenan said in his interview with Joe Rogan about the phibo song. Phi and Fibonacci are present in all music and nature, and making a song deliberately pointing that out is "like a dick joke". In most...

Re: Spiritual Aesthetics: The Rebirth of Poetry (Part I)

There is likewise much to unpack in your insightful response above! I will have to follow up later today. For now I will say that I love Tool! I actually went to one of their concerts right before the pandemic. The pot and forty-six and two are some of my go to songs for them, but I will relisten t...

Re: Cojoined twins: two dissociated alters cojoin to one mind?

I can actually speak in a very personal way about the reintegration of perspectives, if that's okay. One of the things that initially drew me to Kastrup's work was precisely his use of DID as a central metaphor for his perspective, as someone who was a dissociated system (not DID, but OSDD, but the ...

Re: Spiritual Aesthetics: The Rebirth of Poetry (Part I)

You have said so much here that resonates with so much of my thought and experience that I'm not sure where to start unpacking it, but thank you for taking the time to write this.

Re: Bernardo's latest essay

No problem! And don't be turned off by all of our (mostly my) contentious side debates with people here, we have been going at some of these issues like that for awhile. There is no love lost :) Thank you for consideration of the essays as well. Deep M@L essay was written by Cleric, who I must say ...

Re: Bernardo's latest essay

I may be wrong but I think Rovelli may be misunderstanding the Buddhist concept of nothing. It's not "nothing" in the sense we may use it as a synonym for non-existance but it's more meant as "no-thing". No-thing is trying to get across that view that everything we see is entire...

Re: Bernardo's latest essay

Sure, there can absolutely be a medium with a separate substance from what travels through it. But BK (in Why Materialism Is Baloney, chapter 6) posits the "medium" as pure awareness, as void, which only actually exists once it has experiences and then only consists of those experiences. ...

Re: Bernardo's latest essay

Sure! Since I wrote about this in a recent essay, Thinking, Memory, and Time (Part III) , I am going to paste a relevant excerpt: Before proceeding further, we should remain clear - Heidegger does not exclude the "imagination", "inspiration", or "intuition" from Thinki...

Re: Bernardo's latest essay

Quite simply that all which under materialism we conventionally refer to as 'things' are 'ideas' ... no more, no less. So if it's said we find 'nothing' at all, I find it preferable to say we find no 'thing' at all, lest 'nothing' is taken to mean a state of non-ideation. I think that we might be p...
