Re: What's the role (if any) and/or How does COMPASSION fit within Bernardo's idealism?
For me —and only for me, I don't intend this to be an universal truth for everybody—, that's a "universal" truth via a really strong intuition (and 30 grs. of fresh psilocybes too, of course  ). Thirty grams?? Yeah, I bet you saw some universal truth. Damn. That's also why I questio...

Given the state of American Christianity on the whole (I can't speak for elsewhere), you're probably better off. The Native American Church is one of the few religious organizations I see mostly eye to eye with.SanteriSatama wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 7:22 am I have direct experience of only the ceremonies of Native American Church.

Re: Spiritual Aesthetics: The Rebirth of Poetry (Part I)
Self-depreciative joking and funny banter make spiritual truly spiritual. I've heard that Ayahuasca shamans hold drinking contests of immense amounts of strongest brew. The guy who goes last "gröbledigröök" and can keep on cracking dirty jokes longest wins. Whether the story is true or no...

Re: What's the role (if any) and/or How does COMPASSION fit within Bernardo's idealism?
My take might be a touch different: I think the sense of distinction is necessary in order for love to happen at all. Compassion -- feeling-with -- only happens when we have a sense of another soul distinct from our own. Love is not the dissolution of the feeling of distinction, but its sublation: ...

Re: Bernardo's latest essay
All that to say, I think all the "potential" and "no-thing" talk are just ways to obscure the fundamental paradox intrinsic to positing a Ground of all relational content that itself is neither relational nor content. I would accept a straightforward admission of the paradox lik...

Re: Bernardo's latest essay
although he says that it must be "in a sense" something other than nothing, that "in a sense" is an important qualifier: it's his admission that it also is nothing. Indeed, he goes so far as to say that M@L is nothing but its experiences. I find it helpful to think in terms of h...

Re: Spiritual Aesthetics: The Rebirth of Poetry (Part I)
Oh, there's so much going on in John 3's "water-and-wind" that it's worth a whole essay in itself, but I have always preferred the "terrible writer of metaphors" rendering of it as "...born of the Wind." The connection between wind, breath, and spirit is present across ...

Another great Tool song to check out below. I would say it has the most hypnotic pulse-beat I have ever come across in a song, especially when it goes into only instrumental section at 4:00 (I recommend listening with best pair of headphones and on as high a volume as your eardrums can withstand :)...
