Re: Science and Religon via The Vault

"Notice that I have not been commenting on Steiner like I know exactly what he said, why he said it, what it meant, and whether it has been verified or disproven..." Good point. At least we dont' have to know everything to find the aspects we are interested. Some of my Anthroposophical fri...

Re: No Objective Space or Time = No Free Will or Events

Seriously, thanks for your input. By the way, pretty soon I won't be able to deny all of your requests to shadow dance. We no longer have our little dancing room, so it'll be fun to see if want to do it public some more. That said, if you are super sweet to me and extend a bit of charity, I'll certa...

Re: Science and Religon via The Vault

So I agree with Steiner about fingers. But not about non-white people and how long they must wait to evolve. I agree with him about the importance of not pushing reading too early on a child, but I think he is dead wrong when he clairvoyantly teaches why red causes a bull to go wild. I think Steiner...

Re: Science and Religon via The Vault

"You posted the Vault thing here because it aligns with your approach of how to interpret Steiner's writings and lectures." Nope. I don't have a fixed method. The other night my friend and read a lecture in which Steiner talked about how early life eating patterns can metamorphose in later...

Re: No Objective Space or Time = No Free Will or Events

Steiner believed that the 'individual' was reducible to a reduction base as well. Even though he had a different understanding of what he called the Godhead. He speaks of the nature of reality from which individuals emerged and he speaks of a time in which they will unite into one being. I'm not say...

Re: No Objective Space or Time = No Free Will or Events

Many of of the things that you refer to as BK's 'conclusions' strike me has hypotheses that he holds with various degrees of strength. For instance, whenever I hear him speak about what an 'individual' is, I hear him make various distinctions that let him acknowledge that the concept can point to a ...

Re: Bernardo vs Graham Oppy!!

Ashvin, even though we'll probably never know what Bernardo was feeling in that moment when he smiled and said, "This is going more friendly than I anticipated," I appreciate that you interpreted it very differently than I did. I can see your viewpoint. Yeah, he may have been disappointed....

Re: Bernardo vs Graham Oppy!!

By the way, for those who watched the debate and have seen Oppy apply his method before, I wonder if you found his line of questioning interesting. I was happy to see that Bernardo quickly realized that Oppy wasn't 'going at him' in the usual manner but, rather, trying to see the general structure o...

Re: Bernardo vs Graham Oppy!!

Lou said: "I just asked folks to describe how they would apply their personal preferred option to a practical problem. I'm not suggesting or criticizing or proselytizing toward others." Ugh. There is such an intense reactivity in this group. I don't understand why everything has to be take...

Re: Bernardo vs Graham Oppy!!

Lou, my hunch is that you are simply wanting to evoke another kind of response from all of these fine minds. I don't get the impression you are scolding or saying we are doing things wrong, merely that you appreciate when this kind of conversation touches a bit more in the kinds of richer narratives...
