Re: Pictorial Thinking

Here is also an interesting lecture passage from Steiner to contemplate: Today's thought of the day also speaks of this: As the physical eye must be acquired in the pre-earthly life, so must the eye, for the perception of the spiritual world, be acquired here on earth through spiritual science, act...

Re: Pictorial Thinking

I noticed that I live in my normal 'mode' of consciousness, and can enter into a more 'phenomenological' mode. But I only get in there if I think or write down what has been shared a thousand times in this forum by Cleric and Ashvin. I must be active in concentrating that intuition in thoughts, to ...

Re: GA 13 - Rudolf Steiner's "Secret Science in Outline"

Sure, everything unfolds on a gradient over many iterations. We can say for sure that Steiner's physical body was not as exhausted as it would have been had he not developed his higher spiritual consciousness (assuming all else is equal, whereas things are rarely that neat - for ex. initiates begin...

Re: GA 13 - Rudolf Steiner's "Secret Science in Outline"

By “sharper” I meant to include conscious orientations toward higher ideals. I couldn’t find the passage you evoque, however from the lecture I have referenced, and in general, I understand that consciousness, even when experienced as concentric with moral ideals, uses up physical forces. The ideal...

Re: GA 13 - Rudolf Steiner's "Secret Science in Outline"

Thanks for this synopsis, Federica. However, if I am getting it right, these are two different destructive processes taking place in the human organization. On the one hand, the destructive nature of the chemical elements that make up our physical body - evident in the human corpse, the condition in...

Re: Symphony

I suppose it depends what we mean by 'concept'. If we mean that as synonymous with all forms of higher ideation, then yes. But usually we differentiate between intuition, inspiration, imagination, and intellect, and 'concepts' are the aliased forms of ideation familiar to the intellect. We experien...

Re: Symphony

Probably we should first be clear what is meant by 'language'. We are not necessarily speaking of the visual and audial perception of isolated words (which also have spiritual significance), but the living idea that gives logical structure to the language as a temporally extended organism. Basicall...

Re: Symphony

I think the statement in that article is a presupposition (that language shapes perception) and not at all an evidence emerging from the study (by the way, the linked study does not report any of the visual tests given in the article). To state that they don't see the one blue tile among the series...
