Re: EEG spikes in humans and rats at end of life and what this means for the supposed 'evidence' for idealism
I had a hunch that I'd get a reply from mister Cross and tumbleweeds from the others in this forum lol. Are any of the others going to take this challenge on for what it is?

EEG spikes in humans and rats at end of life and what this means for the supposed 'evidence' for idealism
Bernardo Kastrup and other non materialists have long relied on near death experiences as evidence against a materialist explanation of consciousness. He and others will make the claim that because there is no brain activity when the brain is dead then materialism cannot possibly explain such occour...

Artificial metabolism and disscociation of MAL
After a loong time contemplating, reading, researching and staring at the ceiling I am back with more questions for the idealists. I have concluded that due to many consistent reports from anesthesiologists and surgeons of people being woken up whilst under anesthesia and/or on light doses of anesth...

Re: Bernardo's active brain comments
Kastrup states that materialist metaphysics are lost in abstraction yet idealists use the abstraction of brain as an Image of consciousness being interferred with to justify the corelates of anesthesia with consciousness.

Re: Directed Attention
"Your claims seem fairly bizarre to be honest. Can you explain where I have “straw manned” anyone? My views are fairly close to Bernardo’s on nature, it’s when he equates MAL to the same as god and reduces our individuality to nothing more than our isolation from the conscious universe that I s...

Re: Anesthesia, EEG versus CBF
Well thats all fair enough, I am actually agnostic and not a staunch physicalist on this one, it's just that as you said, it sticks..... and so after even more research I make a different but similar case: harking back to the video with Hameroff where he explains how deceased people's brains suddenl...

Re: Anesthesia, EEG versus CBF
I never said I was the first person to think of this. All I am saying as a person who has been under anesthesia four times, consciousness being switched off has implications that logically should affect idealism.

Re: Directed Attention
In accordance with this https://www.bernardokastrup.com/2020/02/pbss-spacetime-role-of-consciousness-in.html and having red the Idea of the world, this reads like a sort of straw man, it goes back and fourth in describing what Kastrups theory is claiming that his argument is at one time everything b...

Re: Anesthesia, EEG versus CBF
Well I just went down a rabbit hole and proceeded to read a whole bunch of articles on anesthesia and looked up the original paper on the lipid study https://www.pnas.org/content/117/24/13757#sec-10 which turns out the tests were done on certain disembodied mice cells and living fruit flies and thei...

Re: Anesthesia, EEG versus CBF
But as the research I just listed directly implies through the experiment that no neurons firing no consciousness, I feel a stronger counterargument is needed on behalf of idealism.
