Re: Rupert Spria's sweet blind spot
@findingblanks So, are you saying that you have problem with the following exchange (paraphrasing): Sam: "what would disprove the theory that everything is consciousness?" Rupert: "Evidence that there are things that are not counsciousness." In that case a totally agree; but i wo...

Re: A hypothetical for Bernardo and for YOU
No, not at all. This kind of casual 'forced choice' isn't an attempt to have a vigorous and precise philosophical conversation. Sorry, but not all useful conversations are in that realm, as Bernardo often demonstrates in his book and conversations. Ok, well in that case, i think Bernardo would choo...

Re: A hypothetical for Bernardo and for YOU
What do you think would be Bernardo's response to this question: What's more reasonable/possible a) solipsism being the case b) consciousness being derived from something non-conscious Thanks JF As David noted; are you implying that a) and b) are the only 2 possible options? In that case; explain y...

Re: Decoding Synchronicity: Jung & Wolfgang Pauli
In which way are you thinking there would be a disconnect? Personally, I still haven't figured out whether Jung was an Idealist or a Dual Aspect Monist. The 'tube above sides with the Dual Aspect camp, as does numerous academic articles, but there are also those who tag him as an Idealist. An additi...

Re: The Attention Economy
Sometimes I think that if there's any free will ; it's in - and only in - where you direct your attention.
The thoughts you have, and the choices you make, are simply an effect of where you direct your attention.

Re: Butterfly Memory Defies Materialism
From the article. Emphasis by me. Our behavioral results are exciting not only because they provoke new avenues of research into the fate of sensory neurons during pupation, but also because they challenge a broadly-held popular view of lepidopteran metamorphosis: that the caterpillar is essentially...

Re: Would it be the only ultimate experiment for proving/disproving consciousness surviving death?
I'm not really sure how any outcome of that experiment would prove consciousness surviving / not surviving death. You say : turn off everything in the brain except a specific part. When dead; it's ALL off (the brain activity), so how would the experiment say anything about what happens after death?
