Re: On the Nihilism of Belief

That's good. To be clear, my main message with respect to Descartes-Kant and pessimism-nihilism in the posts has been that we need to get past the idea that approaching the "unknowable" is impossible . It is a deeply ingrained mental habit which makes sure we never even try. It sounds lik...

Re: On the Nihilism of Belief

I am by no means an optimist. I'm more of a "sit back and enjoy the ride" kind of guy. It is easy to misunderstand what I wrote without context. I still tackle the unknown with a vengeance. After years of fine tuning my perceptions I can tell the difference, for me, when it is a healthy e...

Re: Essay: Beyond the Flat M@L

Old age for me is experiencing spirituality, joy, meaningfulness and love like never before. It is a feeling of running out of time and a need to give back. It's waking up every morning feeling like someone worked me over with a baseball bat.

Re: Does idealism square with intelligent design?

In a recent interview , BK talks of MAL using a "push from behind" rather than a pull from a pre-planned future. So, driven by what it finds increasingly interesting (in the same way as the warmer colder game), MAL's instinctive push happens. How can a mere 'instinctive push' without inte...

Re: On the Nihilism of Belief

That was very pleasant. As I read it I felt you were maybe somewhat writing it to yourself. So "self" what was your take away? Having gone to Catholic school for 13 years where religion was taught just like math or history I was struck with how reading your writing reminded me of that time...

Re: Does idealism square with intelligent design?

Back to the path of heart, it seemed confusing long ago when Castaneda's Don Juan said that all paths lead nowhere. However, the trick in the spell of English can convert "nowhere" to "now here." "Here" may be a hole into despair or a portal into joy. Whether the path ...

Re: Does idealism square with intelligent design?

One thing I can say about my limited overall exposure to the South American culture that I have seen is they have the ability to experience joy. I have been immersed in the Ecuadorian culture for 11 years and known some Venezuelans since the collapse of their country but not much else.

Re: Does idealism square with intelligent design?

Is it better to be wrong and happy or correct and sad? I'll take being happy over sad any day. For sure, as long as the happiness is lasting or sustainable. Not so great when the cigarette demands another cigarette. Been there, done that. Having followed the warriors path for 33 years now I have le...
