Re: Part 2 of Kastrup and Vervaeke coming up May 21
Not sure where this conversation will go. Would be great if JV can read BK's books on Schopenhauer and Jung. They're his best explanation of the metaphysics, but also give a nod towards meaning and suffering which would bridge their two viewpoints.

Re: What to make of this relationship of you and I?
With the indelible felt realization that the Awareness under the spell of being the dream of 'you' is none other than the Awareness under the spell of being the dream of 'me', whereby the notion that 1 plus 1 makes 2 is now revealed to be entirely provisional and spell-dependent, then what remains ...

Re: Curt Jaimungal announces a 3 way conversation between himself, Hoffman, and Kastrup is coming!
Great discussion, but once again we are dealing with one party (Vervaeke) failing to see the absurdity of reducing one ontology (consciousness) into another ontological category (matter/energy/information etc). Until that is fully grokked, he will regard any attempt at addressing decombination (diss...

Re: Is meta-consciousness and thoughts connected?
I would say meta-consciousness gets used to describe different processes, so its important to break it down. One definition is just mindfulness, which is a spacious knowing of what ever appears in awareness. This is a temporary quality of the mind which could be called witnessing - all experiences a...

Re: Energy is the ontological primitive of Materialism not Matter
In physics, energy is the quantitative property that must be transferred to an object in order to perform work on, or to heat, the object. So energy is a quantitative property that exists only in its relation to an 'object' which itself turns out to be just made of energy. No wonder materialist don...

Re: Consciousness is all there is
This is the actual experience ... there is only ever emptiness dancing ... a poetic metaphor for the 'activity' of consciousness ... aka 'ideation.' Yes, there is such experience, no question about that. But what do we do then with an actual experience of "emptiness at rest and not dancing&quo...

Re: Energy is the ontological primitive of Materialism not Matter
Energy is the one substance that explains everything in material metaphysics. Is energy a substance? My understanding is that it relates to the potential capacity for work - quite an abstract phenomenon. Wiki calls it a 'conserved quantity'. I take that to mean Non-degradable and measurable, but no...

Re: Yaron Brook
Well, what other arguments can you expect from religious naïve realists ? :) "The cup exists out there because I feel it!" Indeed. Brook's hero called Kant the most evil person who lived, so sounds like he is on a crusade. Some don't 'get' idealism, some like him consider the thing they d...

Yaron Brook
This is the main exponent of Ayn Rand objectivism - he's been very publicly critical of idealism recently (mainly Don Hoffman). Could his arguments be levelled towards Kastrup?

Re: Rupert Spira on perception and dimensions
Bernardo and Rupert have met and conversed in person, once over some beers in Amsterdam, and have read each other's ideas in book-form, and that is clearly evident in their respective renditions in positing that what we perceive as objectified 'matter' is how the activity (excitations) of irreducib...
