Re: Bernardo's latest essay

Let's make clear again, beloved Europe, that the self-projective imagination of an degenerate imbecille aka "savage" is comes for your layers of class society, how you view your subjects in your aspect of the ruling class and its "rational administrating" fearing and loathing th...

Re: Philosophy Unbound: Schopenhauer vs. Steiner (Round One)

I must confess that I may be defecting to the red team, given that Steiner didn't make it into the All-star World Cup match https://youtu.be/92vV3QGagck I reckon Germany could have had this in the bag if they had made their substitution earlier in the game (and it looks like Socrates was in fact of...

Re: Metamorphoses of the Spirit: Transfiguring our Thinking (Part II)

There is a sense in which I just don’t know what to think of Cleric’s framing of things. It’s clearly a sophisticated and eloquently argued philosophy, but like Ben and Eugene, it doesn’t really connect with me, with my own search for truth into the experience of self, or in relation to god. None o...

Re: Metamorphoses of the Spirit: Transfiguring our Thinking (Part II)

I think a problem with notions of spiritual progression or spiritual hierarchies of any sort is that they can be a source of attachment, grasping and pride, which defeats their purpose. In this respect, Buddhist traditions offer a lot of wisdom. On this topic, I found The Fundamental Wisdom of the M...

Re: Metamorphoses of the Spirit: Transfiguring our Thinking (Part II)

But psychologically what you are actually doing is placing a "heavy" weight on this ideal content, you want to believe that it is "substantial", something to rely on, to hold on. You trust that if a fantasy is shared, it somehow becomes more "solid" or "real"...

Re: Barfield, property and the evolution of consciousness

There definitely cannot be a separation of socioeconomic factors from the metamorphic progression of Spirit. However, we must be consistent and say the metamorphoses cause the socioeconomic structures and not the other way around. I'm not sure if that is the right way of putting it. To use an analo...

Barfield, property and the evolution of consciousness

I came across this blog article http://hipcrimevocab.com/2019/06/09/the-evolution-of-consciousness-and-the-soul/ which connects Owen Barfield’s ideas on consciousness and the soul with those of Classics professor Richard Seaford, who argues for the influence of the development of monetization and pr...

Re: Idealism and Evolution: any theory making the connection?

The work of Richard Prum might be of interest. Although not an idealist, his book the Evolution of Beauty ( https://www.amazon.com/Evolution-Beauty-Darwins-Forgotten-Theory/dp/0385537212 ) looks at the role of subjective preferences and aesthetic choices in evolution (through the mechanism of sexual...

Re: How does a dissociative boundary work?

I did not read too much of Bernardos books. I heard hours and hours of interviews though. It never came across to me, that I heard him explaining dissociative boundaries in detail. So my question is how does a dissociative boundary work and can it be described it scientifically? BK argues that livi...
