Re: Does idealism square with intelligent design?

How can a mere 'instinctive push' without intelligence (from the past, future or whatever) even if driven by 'interests' create such an amazingly complex, efficient and self-reproducing thing like a living cell? No, not at all "without intelligence". Intelligence does not need consciousne...

Re: Does idealism square with intelligent design?

As far as I understand it, BKs theory is in line with Darwinian evolution and posits M@L as not having any design or telos. It is a blind instinct will that becomes self-aware in the evolutionary process with Individualisation emerging from the dissociated alters. But there is no design, aim, purpo...

Re: What does the moral code of idealism look like?

IMHO, Idealism cannot supply a moral code. But it can supply a mindset. If you are not nihilistic, you feel better about yourself. If you are not consumer-driven (believing stuff is all there is), the world is automatically a better place :))

Re: Idealism and the Big Bang

Hello Jim. According to analytical idealism, dissociated humans make sense of the universe as beginning with the big bang in space and time, because space and time are our cognitive scaffolding. In reality, all is unfolding in a present moment (you experience memories in the present and anticipate t...

Re: Why does it matter?

A recent view (shared by Bernardo) is that philosophers in the last century have become much too fond of conceptualizing (angels on the head of a pin stuff, as you say) without due reference to our primary experience. BK's philosophy deliberately attempts to refer first of all to subjective experien...

Re: Iain McGilchrist on Existence, Being, the Limits of Reason and Language, and Schizophrenia

Anyway, the truly frightening metaphysical aspect is the removal of intent from culpability. But only frightening to members of the dominant culture who are afraid to see their inbuilt privileges erode. The intent is not merely in individuals, it is deeply embedded in the culture. Therefore, if jus...

Re: What is love?

As I see it, unconditional love might also be called unconditioned love, that is, unconditioned by evolution in a planetary environment. Therefore it has no preferences, no favouritism for relatives, partners or tribe. It is a general sense of connectedness with the whole of creation, since it does ...

Re: Bernardo's active brain comments

Ben, the "dmt spirit molecule" is already within and rather than seeing the quest as transpersonal it can be seen as getting more deeply personal. From a shamanic pov one can argue for "depth animism" as Santeri does. Can Idealism argue that spirit (consciousness) is both within...
