Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

In other words, there is no need to read or discuss any of the articles you've linked to because there is nothing of philosophical value in any of BK's arguments relating to QM and metaphysics. As far as I can tell, BK only has three core arguments for his idealism. One is his interpretation of QM....

Re: Criticism

Everything results from the spiritual activity of beings. Cleric, I hope we settled on that discussion about the "assumptions" and can put it now to rest. I'm reading your posts with much interest. This statement above I think is the most concise and precise formulation of the "meani...

Re: Criticism

One of the most valuable extract that we can take from one such experience is to appreciate that this understanding is not really something that is added on top of other intellectual ideas. It's actually the opposite. It's as if we've been caught into some corner case. Leaving this corner actually ...

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

However, materialism still has serious trouble with interpreting QM. There are a few interpretations of QM compatible with materialism, such as Copenhagen, pilot-wave and many-world, but they all have serious explanatory gaps. Sabine actually gave a good overview of each of them pointing to their tr...

Re: Criticism

The above simply shows that you're interested in the question whether there're creative perspectives behind phenomena, in the same way a scientist is interested if information is lost or not within a black hole. In other words, you're seeking working hypothesis that should satisfy the intellect in ...

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

This is the claim I was looking for, if we can find one more "materialist" siding with Jim we have a small but sufficient team. And then, since this is a mainly idealistic forum, we find two more idealists minimum also and then we are off to the races. Though taking the articles I posted ...

Re: Criticism

My question is: can we actually study and practice the PoF in a healthy way without being harassed for critical and sober approach, for questioning the assumptions and without being forced to adopt a system unquestionable beliefs? Can we practice Anthroposophy without forming a sect around it?

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

Eugene and Martin, If entanglement is measurement, this seems to lead to some interesting conclusions. If two electrons are entangled, then measurement must have occurred between them. If measurement requires a conscious observer, then the electrons must be conscious. Panpsychism. If measurement do...

Re: Entanglement etc. Materialism vs. Idealism

I think I found the root problem. In the video you quoted, the speaker takes a philosophical stance against “reality” in the classical sense. Nothing new there. He presents conventional explanations of some quantum experiments that look well reported and conventional. The problem is that he tosses ...

Re: Criticism

Let's look closely at the above thinking attitude. It would be quite on the mark if the question was "Is string theory right?". Then one could answer "Contingently and pragmatically, string theory works for me but I prefer not to accept it as religious dogma and remain open that at s...
