Re: Cells that act like unique, adaptable organisms...
To be clear, I do imagine it takes a certain insensitivity to slaughter -- other humans, animals, plants and rocks -- but a strip mine looks like an open wound to a living being to me. Perhaps synchronously, last night I made a black-and-white image from a color photo of the local seashore. The phot...

Re: Cells that act like unique, adaptable organisms...
I have been fortunate enough to never have seen a person in a coma, but I wonder if the feeling is anything similar to viewing inanimate Nature in our normal waking consciousness. If they are both in a deep 'sleep' of seeming unconsciousness. And if just as a person can come out of a coma, the form...

Sheldrake considers the Sun to be a living being. As a visual storyteller, I see it something like this: https://scontent.fhnl3-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/166987198_10159209176439938_1752841173101071326_n.jpg?_nc_cat=108&ccb=1-3&_nc_sid=730e14&_nc_ohc=n4bkoqTyCzcAX-e_zvJ&_nc_ht=sco...

Re: Cells that act like unique, adaptable organisms...
I’m curious what people think of this from a metaphysical context? Also to go off at a bit of a tangent, from my perspective (a kind of christian neoplatonic idealism), there is a kind of hierarchy along the lines; God -> Divine ideas/Archetypes (universal) -> Forms (particular) -> Representation o...

Re: Bernardo's active brain comments
Oh, I realize that even if we find a correlation between brain activity and psychedelics that materialists still can't tell any story about how consciousness arises from arrangments of matter. But I'm curious if Bernardo would agree that it is probably just a matter of time until we can provoke a p...

Re: Bernardo's active brain comments

Re: Bernardo's active brain comments
Lou, The context of my comments has related to measurable brain activity by scientific means, such as EEG or fMRI. It is not related to whether your brain feels busy or feels calm, feels balanced or feels confused. The comments are in the context of this thread which is the context of scientific re...
