Re: What is the phenomenilogy of non-metacognitive consciousness in Bernardo's model?
Bernardo argues that MAL probably doesn't have metacognition. He also says that for example in anaesthesia, in his opinion we don't exactly LOSE consciousness, it's simply that memory formation is inhibited, so that we cannot create a contiunous story-like experience of those consciousness states. ...

Re: A separate topic...
My understanding was that the "formlessness" is not a "mystical" state of the absence of forms, but formless/existential aspects of every form. Yes, but I am just saying that when a mystic says he 'experiences formlessness' that formlessness may be relative. Also -- getting pick...

A separate topic...
TriloByte said in the Cleric/Eugene thread I would agree. I think that was what Scott Roberts was doing, integrating BK idealism, non-dualism and Steinerian Science in one philosophy. I don’t know if he is still working in that regard. Sadly he doesn’t write in this forum as much as he did before. M...

Re: Cleric and Eugene on "Thinking" and The Central Topic
So again, IMO for the wholistic approach a fusion of both is needed. I would agree. I think that was what Scott Roberts was doing, integrating BK idealism, non-dualism and Steinerian Science in one philosophy. I don’t know if he is still working in that regard. Sadly he doesn’t write in this forum ...

Yes, which is why I didn't suggest it.findingblanks wrote: ↑Tue Nov 23, 2021 4:40 pm Yeah, exactly. I was merely pointing out that if Scott was suggesting that Steiner wanted his core philosophical texts not to be read as epistemology, this would be off.

Re: Criticism
I have reservations about Jasper’s theory of Axial Age, but for here I’m limiting my discussion to the Greeks from Homer to Socrates, which is in that time frame. All we know of the Greeks of that time is from the fragments of poems and philosophy and can make no conclusions about how the general p...

Re: Criticism
From the above, I would take exception to your claim that these Pre-Socratic Greeks were naive Idealists. This would not be possible until Socrates. Homer’s gods were physical, not transcendent, beings of elemental power, living atop Mt. Olympus. Dionysus was a physical power inherent in music and ...

Re: Phenomenological idealism: definitions of common terms
Re: Imagination, I still need to figure it out, will read PoF about it. PoF doesn't get into Imagination (or the higher rungs, Inspiration and Intuition). For that you'll want his Outline of Occult Science , also available at rsarchive.org. Scott, I assume you know the PoF well, and I get that the ...

Re: Phenomenological idealism: definitions of common terms
But I'm actually thinking about a synthetic kind of idealism combining both into one whole. This is why I got interested in studying the PoF. Nothing would prevent us from assuming that the reality is both Absolute Awareness and Absolute Idea, with Awareness being one aspect of reality (formless) a...

Re: Phenomenological idealism: definitions of common terms
I’m studying this paper that is basically commentaries on PoF epistemology. Very interesting and revealing. There is a lot there, I will only emphasize the relevant points. I’ll be posing a series of posts on the subject. Step 1.Thinking and Reality. ... A couple of comments: I want to make sure yo...
