The first link on the other thread is the same video. I don't really care, just saying it might make sense to combine the two discussions.SanteriSatama wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 7:22 pmIt's not the same video.AshvinP wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 6:15 pm There's another thread about this debate as well - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=44

Re: Long term effects of Idealism
It appears to me the Christian 'rule' is that we may never conduct warfare against anyone based on their beliefs, or anything else short of an imminent and serious threat to our own survival. No doubt that rule has been violated by countless people in the name of Christianity, but we do not judge e...

Re: William Blake // Dostoevsky: Marriage of Heaven & Hell
he views the opposites as separate forces rather than inter-weaving and inter-penetrating. Not how I hear The Tyger. The Thoughts on Thinking guy was going over Marriage of Heaven and Hell . Based on my reading, I believe he had an accurate analysis. But don't get me wrong... I also think Blake may...

Re: Recalibrating the humanities and the sciences around extraordinary experiences
Well, just as I am criticizing BK for not discussing enough religious questions in his interviews on another thread, this gets posted
I could have listened to these guys discussing those issues for many hours. The new Essentia foundation and its potentialities are very exciting!

Re: Presentation at the University of Arizona Consciousness Conference: Idealism, Cultural Narratives, and Social Change
I am particularly interested in the following question: Other than convincing philosophical argument, what development is likely to push or pull the currently dominant cultural narrative from materialism towards idealism? (New quantum physics experiments, contact with intelligent extra terrestrial ...

Re: Knowledge
I am not a 'formal philosopher' by any stretch, but my 2 cents is to think of knowing and knowledge as process rather than a state. Can you give an example of such a process ? Knowing requires a dynamic process of developing internal models of the world That is science. Science is not knowledge imo...

Re: William Blake // Dostoevsky: Marriage of Heaven & Hell
This video is so artfully and beautifully created that I first thought of posting it in the art-form section, but given its thought-provoking ideas about polarity, good vs evil, individuality><mutuality, etc, it surely warrants a place here too ... William Blake // Dostoevsky: Marriage of Heaven &a...

Re: Evolution and Idealism
I really cannot persuade myself from the Darwinian mechanisms of evolution; and as an objective idealist I do think that consciousness cannot have been evolved by means of natural selection. Maybe there are other means by which evolution can produce adaptive phenotypic characteristics. Saltationism...

Re: Life after death - Is Life ultimately absurd?
"Many existential philosophers were arguably idealists, such as Kierkegaard, {maybe) Nietzsche, Husserl, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, Jaspers, W. James, H. Arendt, Colin Wilson, Paul Tillich." Do or did these existential philosophers really entertain objective/subjective idealism, meaning th...
