Re: How to explain synchronicity?

Because, quite simply, there is no such thing as "random chance" under idealism (and I am not even sure there is under any other ontology). That's seems like a somewhat odd position to take since BK's argument relies so much on QM. In QM, nature at its lowest level is either actually rand...

Re: How to explain synchronicity?

Synchronicity would be entirely plausible in a solipsistic idealism. How is it not plausible under non-solipsistic idealism? Do you have a technique to distinguish real synchronicity from chance happenings? There will always be the possibility that it is just random chance, even in the classic case...

Re: How to explain synchronicity?

It's typical for people in the modern age to elevate the particular manifestation over the universal principle - the OP was not about whether that particular cat commercial event can be analyzed and determined to be a valid "synchronicity". That was merely a reference point for the overal...

Re: How to explain synchronicity?

Let me guess. You have either customized your feed or youtube has customized it for you based on your prior viewing. I happen to be looking for spotting scopes and have done some Google searches. It must be synchronicity that now suddenly ads for spotting scopes keep appearing on random pages I go ...

Re: How to explain synchronicity?

Speaking of synchronicity, as I'm reading this thread, a 'bell' notification of this video just popped up in the youtube feed (yeah Jim, I know, mere random coincidence) ... Let me guess. You have either customized your feed or youtube has customized it for you based on your prior viewing. I happen...

Re: How to explain synchronicity?

These events are taking place independently from our inner resonance. It is the connection seeking brain that makes them seem meaningful. It will try to find meaning even when there is none. It is on a larger scale what goes on in conspiracy thinking. Statistics keeps the overloading of meaning and...

Re: How to explain synchronicity?

Cat food commercials are fairly frequent on television so the odds are good if you mention the Schrodinger's Cat thought experiment a commercial for cat food could follow. You need to look at the Law of Truly Large Numbers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_truly_large_numbers But isn't Jung's c...

Re: How to explain synchronicity?

Frequent coincidences of the meaningful variety have haunted me for years. But maybe not so much any more thanks to relational quantum mechanics. If interactions are the ontological primitive, rather than objects, my interaction with my surroundings has room for such happenings as, say, a cat food ...

Re: Hunter-gatherers were the original affluent society

Palisades are wooden defensive walls intended to fortify an area. Ditches and earthen mounds also sometimes served that function, although they could serve other functions. The palisades are, of course, all gone now since they were constructed of wood. Walled villages were noted by earliest Europea...
