Re: Does idealism square with intelligent design?

Lou, Dude I bow to your wisdom and your maturity! I know, the numbers are staggering. A 100,000,000,000,000 atoms to make a single cell and 30,000,000,000,000 cells of over 200 types from a single fertilized egg. Hell yes I know what is going on, just ask me!(Joking) Many times I feel like I have th...

Re: Does idealism square with intelligent design?

Agreed. I think our theories tend to rationalize past events. Quite predictably a Christian might see Intelligent Design and a Buddhist might see Interdependent Co-arising in the very same thing. Meanwhile, Idealism allows both and more without compelling one or the other. I totally agree. We so ne...

Re: What does the moral code of idealism look like?

 I have been extremely lucky to have walked the paths I have walked. Systems have always been screwed in their out of balance way they distribute benefits and costs. What has happened now is that we have an expectation that technology can fix that. I was a Texas public high school teacher for ...

Re: What does the moral code of idealism look like?

One mistake I have seen many many intelligent people make is that because a person can recognize a bad landing that makes them a pilot. I'm leaning at this point to the Essentia Foundation being a whole lot of smart people that see the bad landing humanity has made and the obvious upcoming skid off...

Re: What does the moral code of idealism look like?

JC dedicated his life to promoting a vision not that much different than Bernardos and he did it with at least as much passion and not near the fanfare unless being nailed to a cross in front of thousands counts as fan fare. The point is all has happened before. To be specific Bernardo first and for...

Re: What does the moral code of idealism look like?

I like Bernardo but I have no desire to be him or be like him. I certainly see nothing that he has done so far to show that he is in any way lighting the way. Like I say I search out the reluctant messiahs. I have much more faith in my ability to determine the physical future than I do in Bernardo's...

Re: What does the moral code of idealism look like?

I apologize for my ignorance but I didn't understand half of what you just wrote! These times are unprecedented only in that humanity has gotten farther out on the limb than we ever have before as a world wide phenomenon and we have much larger and more powerful saws to cut that limb off behind us. ...

We have too much time on our hands when those are the important issues of the day.

Re: What does the moral code of idealism look like?

I accept what you are saying as far as your grandchild is concerned but I absolutely do not accept it as an accurate assessment of the population at large. In many of these comments I detect a sort of Pollyanna approach to reality that I don't share. I have my own reasons for why I think that is. Wh...
