Jung's Red Book ( Liber Novus )

Post by Scotmonk »

Would Jung's Red Book contain metaphysical relevance to Idealism - or be included with the pre-1940s works that Bernardo states as having less relevance in the Prelude to Decoding Jung's Metaphysics? I ask this because Jung stated that Liber Novus was the foundation to all that followed ( ie. in his work ). After reading Bernardo's latest work, I am finding The Seven Sermons to the Dead in the Scrutinies section of the Red Book to be immensely clearer.

One thing that seems relevant is that the events of the Red Book take place in imaginal space. There's a set of insights that seem to be shared by idealists of various stripes, and this is among them, that psyche and world are equally imaginal and have fluid boundaries.

I am SO glad that Bernardo has given us this Jung book, it is a gem!

Rather than posting as a separate topic, seems this brief video is just as pertinent here ...

Here out of instinct or grace we seek
soulmates in these galleries of hieroglyph and glass,
where mutual longings and sufferings of love
are laid bare in transfigured exhibition of our hearts,
we who crave deep secrets and mysteries,
as elusive as the avatars of our dreams.
