Consciousness, Lex Fridman and Smachtenberger

Good discussion, if you can skip and forgive the too narrow definition of idealism as subjectivism.

I haven't watched the video, but I'm polyamorous and that word comes up a lot in discussions of polyamory. It's a lovely word.

Smachtenberger speaks loads of wisdom, I can highly recommend. Best Lex Fridman podcast I've watched so far.

Finding Lex's musings a tad too scifi-ishly meandering, I now find this mind daydreaming about an alternate conversation between Schmachtenberger and Kastrup. Nevertheless, worth a listen for the edifying well-focused responses from Daniel.
Here out of instinct or grace we seek
soulmates in these galleries of hieroglyph and glass,
where mutual longings and sufferings of love
are laid bare in transfigured exhibition of our hearts,
we who crave deep secrets and mysteries,
as elusive as the avatars of our dreams.

There was a time when I might have felt some affinity for compersion of an erotic kind ... Alas, there comes a time in life when that too amounts to no more than a daydream ;)

I would not call feeling compersion from watching bumblebees and flowers, from joyous growth of grass tickling my bare feet, an unerotic kind. :)

Sure, it's all fun until the lawnmower comes out

Did you know that the scent of freshly lawned grass is their cry of terror and pain? Reading that information did not make life more easier.

Ethics, not easy. It's a constant strugle. Nowadays I try to telepathically or somehow first warn the grass, that the lawnmover is coming soon. Can't say that the results are very convinsing so far, but we keep trying. And of course watch how the flowerings go, and according to some weird compromise scheme to leave unlawned patches for the plant and flower love making.

Btw, anyone who enjoyed the chat with Schmachtenberger, may also like this trialogue ...
