Two Documentary Films that are important and relevant

Post by RehabDoc »

1. Infinite Potential. The Life and Ideas of David Bohm. http://www.infinitepotential.com/ A film by Paul Howard.
David Bohm was not only an incredible quantum physicist, but also a polymath with a slew of important ideas and contributions to physics and beyond. His concept of 'Wholeness and the Implicate Order' is really fascinating and very much related to the idealism of Bernardo Kastrup as well as the 'Principle of Individuation' of Arthur Schopenhauer--the idea that thought is inherently a fragmenting process that severs subject from object and makes distinctions between the object named and what it is not.

2. The Divided Brain. http://www.thedividedbrain.com/ About the Divided Brain theory of Iain McGilchrist as conveyed in his book 'The Master and His Emissary. The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World.'
Really important and well-done movie about how the Western World has gotten way too far over toward the perspective of the left hemisphere that is characterized by Nominalism, Physicalism, Individualism, Sensationalism and Phenomenalism. And how, as Einstein said it most eloquently and succinctly, "The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift."

If you have a chance to see either of these films, it would be nice to have a chance to share our perspectives and reactions.
