Decrease in glutamate levels in brain causes good trip during ego disolution by magic mushrooms new study says

This new study from the Netherlands may be interesting for idealists. It's about the relationship between magic mushrooms, ego disolution and the biomolecule glutamate.

"In the brain, glutamate acts as a sort of “on switch” in that it helps propagate neural signals traveling across brain cells — and altering how much reaches different areas of the brain, the findings suggest, appear to trigger profound changes in perception."

yes, and what you don't use, you lose. Networks that are used frequently become stronger. Yes I believe you can change your personality and habits in life by rewiring your brain. But I also think that magic mushrooms open the door to a higher reality. A reality that can be seen, when the brain is reduced in activity.

This study is a little bit contradicting the original study of dr. Robin Carhart-Harris, who wrote:

(from the Abstract)
Decreased activity in the ACC/medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) was a consistent finding and the magnitude of this decrease predicted the intensity of the subjective effects. "
Source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22308440/

While this new study says that there is an increase of activity in the mPFC region causing a bad trip and a decrease in the region of hippocampus.

I'm looking forward to more investigation on this subject.
