Animal Consciousness

Animals, especially dogs, exhibit emotions and seem to have some inner life. How do they translate the external world of perceptions to their inner life without language and myths?

According to BK's reading of Schopenhauer, there is an inbuilt intuitive understanding in alters that allows alters a basic scaffolding comprehension of spacetime. This is a priori and separate from abstract analytical thought.

Animals, especially dogs, exhibit emotions
Do they ?
If emotions are internal, how can they be ex-hibited ?

Living creatures can show outward expressions of inner feelings. Anyone that has owned a dog knows that they can exhibit anger, fear, curiosity, jealousy, happiness and various other emotions. How do they learn to have and exhibit those states of mind? Is it dog intuition?

Most likely they have a fair deal of 'inner experience'. We just don't know how much of their outer expressions reflect that inner experience. Some of it will simply be the dog's naturally or 'socially' trained reactions to the human's behavior. I know experiments have been done to better flesh this out, but I haven't kept up with the results.
