Not that it could never happen, but with real Finnish Sauna, 80 celcius is considered a mild minimum, and that creates certain physical limitations of what is doable and what is not by some minimum degree of comfort and pleasure. I'm aware that some others tend to associate sauna with sex, because puritanic inhibitions tend to associate being naked with sex. For us being naked in sauna is about being naked and getting a good wash for both body and spirit. Our Sauna is quite informal, but as shared sauna for both/all genders is also fairly common in addition to gender specific, family specific etc., the sacred social and communal aspect of the purification requires very trusting and considerate atmosphere that is comfortable for all bared body shapes and souls.

The water vapor in sauna is not same as steam (höyry), it's löyly. The distinction is very important, because löyly is also a word for soul or part of soul. Steam/höyry refers to the physical phenomenon, not the holy spirit of löyly. In wintertime, it is a common custom to take plunge in avanto, a hole cut in a frozen lake. It's quite wonderful, especially afterwards, and very good for formation of brown fat which has very significant long term health benefits.

It wasn't intended as a nuanced interpretation of its symbolic or allegorical meaning, just as a reference point that reminded me of the claim that trans-corporeal entities are lining up to experience the corporeal realm, and so it may not be just a oneway 'upward' attraction, in keeping with the involution><evolution theme.

Surely we can be attracted in both directions if our choices have meaning, but isn't the question about which direction we should go? We can't go up and down at the same time without remaining still, which sounds a lot like death to me.

PS - JP has an interview with the person who did the artwork for the book, so maybe they discuss that image more. I haven't listened to it yet, still feasting off of that one with Weinstein.
