Neither imagined nor imaginary, the Imaginal is an easily accessible reality well known among children and poets.

Here's a marvelous wide-ranging interview with Stephen Buhner.

As the less-quoted section of the famous Rumi poem, says,
The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you.
Don’t go back to sleep.
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep.
People are going back and forth across the doorsill
where the two worlds touch.
The door is round and open.
Don’t go back to sleep.
Earth-poet-philosopher Stephen Harrod Buhner. Stephen is the senior researcher for the Foundation for Gaian studies, described as a bardic naturalist, he is the award-winning author of 19 books, including The Lost Language of Plants, The Secret Teachings of Plants, and Sacred Plant Medicine. His most recent book is Plant Intelligence and the Imaginal Realm. Before retiring from the road in 2013, he taught for more than 30 years throughout North America and Europe.

For those who are willing to listen to the podcast through to its end there will be quite a surprise. This is surely not a standard environmentalist rant. Indeed, it seems more like a speculative metaphysical discourse among Idealists ... speculating about where the two worlds meet.
