Aarvoll's argument for Reincarnation

This is a video in which the Platonist philosopher Aarvoll presents an argument for reincarnation, borrowing from integrated information theory.
The theory is interesting and could easy be recast in an idealist metaphysic. Other philosophers like Michael Huemer and Tom Clark have presented similar theories of reincarnation which I find compelling.
Imagine that you're about to fall asleep. As you fall asleep, your consciousness becomes simpler and simpler, eventually becoming infinitely simple, and then returning to more complex states: during dreams and upon waking up. This is also what death is. Death is a transition to a new region of the state space of consciousness. Death is a transition to a new life.
